This is the Belgian band from 1978. Initially I had this confused with the Canadian band. Anyway, problem now rectified.

Cooking With George ('Vol 1' and 'Mark Two')

This is a Triple J (Radio Station) 5 EP box compilation of Aussie bands from 1984. It plays at 45 rpm. Festival records and ABC (Aust Broadcasting Corp). Bands featured are: Shower Scene From Psycho, Skel=E-Tones, Huxton Creepers, Dance Theatre, Great Outdoors, Poles Apart, The Seamonsters, I'm Talking, Flotsam Jetsam, Shake 288 and I.T. The last band interests me most and I should do a separate post for them (stay tuned). I have called this 'Vol 1' but that was never it's title. Just Cooking With George. As time went on .....

Peter Miller - The Violet Flame

This is in my top 10 Aussie albums. Electronic. Released 30 years ago (1993), only on CD. Completely infectious. He also never did anything like this before or after. Some of his other releases are background and ambient, never really grabbing my attention. This one REALLY does. Thank you Peter.

John Elder - Derelicts

I certainly rate this 1987 New Zealand album. It's not conventional. Not RnR. Not pop. I guess it's Electronic, perhaps ambient. A little bit abstract. Maybe experimental. Heck, I simply enjoyed the listen. Have not split into separate tracks - that tends to take away from the listen. This LP sells for silly $$$ but it's well worth chasing down. John actually is a scientist and has one other LP out there ('Antartica'). He's done time at Scott Base and also Mt Erebus. Very darn interesting.

Steve Warner - Self Titled

Interesting low-key Aussie album from 1976. In it's original form - very hard to find. It has been re-ished once. Well worth a listen. The sound has hints of folk and pop, mainly acoustic. I simply call it Hippy-Folk, with bits of Prog (maybe Blues). Phew - Check it out.

Interview - Live In Edinburgh

Blogging a whole bunch of impossible to find stuff by Interview. Never heard of 'em? Join the club. The band name itself is strange. Well, so was the band. The singer had a unique sound - hard to describe. It immediately grabbed me so I bought their only two LP's ('Big Oceans' and 'Snakes and Lovers'). Both have been blogged on this site. This was from a live concert in 1979. I think it came out on a very limited CD. It's also possible (according to Discogs) that their two albums got a CD release. CD reisues of their music would be the #1 wish of mine. It's my top of the list. Yup - they're that good.

Second single from 1979. Contains the big track ('You Don't Have To Lie To Me') from their first LP. I say BIG because upon first listen (and subsequent) I thought it was amazing. And, unusual. 'That Kind Of Boy' was not on the first LP.

Interview - Hide And Seek & Yes Man 7''

Last single from 1980. 'Hide and Seek' appeared on the LP 'Snakes and Ladders' but the B-Side ('Yes Man') was only released here. After this they were planning to do a third album - but it never eventuated. However, tracks can be found on 'The Last Demos'.

Gove - Heavy Cowboy

Great album. What a discovery this LP is from around 1971. Kinda like that first time you heard Nick Drake. Or Gene Clark. Howe Gelb. Steve Young ..... you know what I mean. It's unique with so many different elements. Not all that easy to find now. Full name is Gove Scrivenor. You'll thank me for this.

New Zealand compilation from 1972. Always seem to enjoy this, especially to hear Steve Allen's verion of the David Bowie song 'Life On Mars'. Worth getting just for that. Then there's a track by Blerta, Headband etc.

Great band name. And then there's the seahorse. Mutual Orgasm indeed (Dad carries the eggs, Mum does a runner). Released on the Way Over There label in 1997 (WOT025). One and only release.

Sore Throat - Sooner than You Think

This is one of those finds from the el cheapo bin. It sneaks up on you then you're hooked. Great album. New Wave Pop-Punk band from the UK. Released in 1979. Bunch of extra tracks from their singles also included. It's a fairly complete collection well worth your time.
