The Brains were a rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, led by songwriter Tom Gray in the early 1980s. This is their 1980 debut album entitled The Brains, and was produced by Steve Lillywhite for Mercury Records. The set is probably most noteworthy for the band's own song, "Money Changes Everything", which was covered three years later by Cyndi Lauper, becoming a hit single for her.

Thanks! It was very hard to find!
ReplyDeleteCrazy - I have no idea why this band (and this album in particular) have not had more recognition nor re-issue program. Everyone I've played this to have said "WOW". Glad you finally have a copy.
ReplyDeleteI've had this record forever, along with their previous one. I was actively looking for groups that were in the Elvis Costello vein. These guys were great! There is, by the way, a more recent punk group using the name The Brains. They're pretty good too.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot man, hard af to find this record.
