West Australian power pop. This is all I have from this band by way of singles but their stuff has been collected on CD.

James Griffin & The Subterraneans - The Immigrant Tango
Whatever happened to .... Really loved their output way back when (the 80's) but no sight or sound since. 'The Immigrant Tango' is a minor classic, riddled with great songs. Also included here is their single 'Blood Of The Poet'. I think this is their entire output.

Donnie & Joe Emerson - Dreamin' Wild
Totally gruesome cover that suggests the music will be similar to The Osmond's. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is a pop masterpiece that must not remain unheard. Prepare to be amazed.

Jags - Collected
One of my favourite pop bands of all time. Similar in sound to early Elvis Costello but 5000 times better. Sadly neglected and will leave you amazed. This is their entire output - ooops, also included here is the 'Best Of' CD. You can't ask for more than that.

Moog Cookbook - Plays The Classic Rock Hits (Ye Olde Space Bande)
Wonderful. Simply wonderful. Could sneak in as a Mr Weird and Wacky blog entry but I prefer to see it here. Totally worthy and whammo.

The Makers Of The Dead Travel Fast - Collected
There's a lot to enjoy about this band. The name for starters! You have to admit, anyone with a band name like that must be unique and ultra cool. Hey, what about the album covers? Then I heard 'Vessels'. Found it in the el cheapo bin (you won't get that now - this album commands rolls of cash - that's if you can find it). Sensational. Have tracked down all their stuff (I think) so it's all very neat and tidy in one download package. Alternatively, you can pick n' choose what you want to download (start with 'Vessels').

Bruce Foxton - Back In The Room
The forgotten (and over-looked) third of The Jam. We all know what Paul Weller has been up to but what about that bass player guy. Well, he's been doing heaps of stuff (including time in the Stiff Little Fingers) and this is one of his later releases. Don't put it next to Paul's output - it deserves a place on it's own. Me like!

Geeza - Street Life
Geeza had a rock n' roll sound - there's no other way to explain it. Try and get your hands on this LP and you'll encounter a few obstacles! Simply put - it's just not out there anymore. So, this will have to do.

Little Heroes - Play By Numbers
Have always had a soft spot for this band, ever since their first self titled album.
Hey, that's the same opening line I used when blogging that album.
That sez a lot. Aussie pop rarely sounds this good. Second album,
nearly as good as the first.

The Kids (Canada) - Self Titled
Canadian punk/pop from 1982. Awkward album to search for on the internet so we may as well blog it here. Having said that, is it Wired & Wasted or Worthy & Whammo? That's the million dollar question.
It could also be a ploy from me to get you to visit Mr Wired and Wasted if you're on this particular blog. Very cunning! I think it belongs here but that can be disputed.

Ayers Rock - Beyond
When doing a file exchange with a follower of Mr W&W, this turned up on my doorstep. Hmmm, sounds very darn good. 70's feel, very psych, it's got that Aussie feel to it - surely this is not the file that was meant to be sent to me. I enquired further. Yup, sorry about that, it's a band called Ayers Rock! Well, I'd heard of them before (in 1976) but never bothered to listen. Too much of a naff name. It like calling your band Eifel Tower, or Statue of Liberty etc. All that aside, this is a hidden gem. They put out two more albums 'Big Red Rock' (1974) and 'Hot Spell' (1980) but this is the one to wrap your ears around.

Electrafixion - Burned
This comes from the world of Echo and The Bunnymen. Made when Ian McCulloch and Will Sergeant were doing their 'not in the Bunnymen' thing (what's that all about? Tossers) - they then made the best 'non-Bunnymen' album ever. This is seriously very good, but totally ignored. Songs like 'Zephyr' and 'Too Far Gone' - wowsers! Oh yeh, ain't the cover great!

Cybotron - Self Titled (Clear Light of Jupiter)
Groovy cover and ultra groovy electronic doodles inside. It was the age of electronic music (spearheaded by Tangerine Dream, one of my all time faves). Just can't help myself with this stuff. Give me more. First album subtitled 'Clear Light of Jupiter'.

Cybotron - Colussus
Cybotron made things happen in the world of electronic music - and they're Australian! Have not seen this (their second album) yet on ceedee, but their third 'Implosion' has been reished (well worth getting - it's on Aztec Records).
Steve Maxwell Von Braund was in this band and later released a solo album ('Monster Planet'). It was massively cult and collectable (also reished on Aztec Records). BTW - Aztec records has now morphed into Sandman Records. Their releases are top quality.

Golden Miles (Aust Prog Rock 1969-74) - Various
Aussie prog rock ruled supreme in the 60's and early 70's. What was it like? Well this compilation spread over 2CD's sez it all. And I mean 'all'. Nothing has been left out, it's like a historical document. Doubt that it is still available, but you may prove me wrong there.

Cowboys International - The Original Sin
Fond memories of this release. Very poppy and infectious. Listened to it endlessly upon release but wondered why no one else was doing likewise. Don't know if it ever had a ceedee release, so this will have to make do. Two different covers, one very bland just with writing scrawled across the cover. Hardly a selling point!
In 2004 they (as in Ken Lockie) released 'The Backwards Life Of Romeo'. VERY different to this.

Sardine V - Sudan 7'' & I Hate You EP
The brainchild of Ian Rilen (from Aussie band 'X') and his wife (Stephanie). They also convinced Phil Hall (Dropbears & Lime Spiders) to add bass (that was Ian's instrument of choice) and occasionally Johanna Pigott, John Lloyd & Barton Price. Bit of a who's who really. Not a patch on one of the greatest bands of all time, X - but then again, they were way different. Hard to explain, but something about this project really grabbed my ear when it was released. It still does. These were their only two releases.

XL Capris - Where Is Hank?
Where indeed. Magnificent album - this band featured Johanna Pigott on bass and lungs, Tim Gooding guitar and main writer with Todd Hunter (ex Dragon) on production duties. Totally infectious and should feature on any top album list. Essential.
